about
A hogfish is a large wrasse, Lachnolaimus maximus, of the western Atlantic Ocean. Hogfish are plentiful in the Florida Keys, Bahamas, Caribbean, and they have been as far north as North Carolina and Bermuda, and into the Gulf of Mexico. The meat is considered to be high quality with a soft, white, firm consistency. The meat is considered one of the finest eating due to its shellfish diet. It is a popular target for spear-fishermen, and rarely caught by conventional rod and reel methods.
The musical Hogfish is also mostly made up of soft, white, firm meat and is considered to be quite a delicacy. Their fun punk-rock inspired melodies seek to amuse and entertain.
This particular Hogfish song is rumored to be inspired by the Shepard's Pie served at Victoria University's Burwash Dining Hall.
As you may have guessed from the jovial banter at the beginning of the track, The Hogfish actually recorded this song in one take — which was originally meant to be the ghost track. Upon playback, The Hogfish decided to keep their first track as their final product, and were thus nick-named the "One Take Wonders" of the Vic Records project.
